Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid Heads To Dealers This Summer
PLANO, Texas, April 6, 2023 — In addition to supporting Toyota’s goal of a carbon-neutral future, the Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid does it fashionably. The Corolla Cross strikes the right balance between the practicality of a larger crossover and the thrilling driving experience of a compact car, thanks to its affordable price and abundance of options. When it debuts in showrooms in June, the MSRP for the Corolla Cross Hybrid will be $27,970.
The brand-new Corolla Cross Hybrid, which is naturally athletic, is the ideal advancement for this model range. The updated TNGA-C platform gives it a more welcoming exterior and a better line of sight from a design standpoint.
The Corolla Cross Hybrid has striking features for all three Sport trim levels that distinguish it from its gas-powered brothers, such as distinctive front and back design. Even more eye-catching options include 18-inch alloy wheels with athletic aesthetics and two-toned paint.
“Corolla Cross is an incredibly well-packaged vehicle, and adding the hybrid powertrain to the lineup is truly the cherry on top,” said Michael Tripp, vice president of Toyota marketing. Overall, the Corolla Cross Hybrid is a fantastic value with many features and specs we know customers will appreciate.
The gas and hybrid performances of the 2022 Corolla Cross will be built in the United States at the brand-new Mazda Toyota Manufacturing facility in Huntsville, Alabama. Corolla Cross Hybrid is another vehicle supporting the “beyond zero” initiative as part of Toyota’s varied strategy to achieving carbon neutrality.
Toyota aspires to go beyond zero emissions through our goods, services, and business practices that have a net beneficial effect on the environment and society. This vision is represented by the phrase “Beyond Zero”.
Toyota has the broadest selection of zero and low-emission powertrains available on the market, which is no accident. Customers now have the means to minimize their carbon footprint while still achieving their current lifestyle and mobility goals.
The 15 electrified vehicles Toyota offers customers to choose from, including 11 hybrid models, two plug-in hybrid models, the all-electric bZ4X battery electric vehicle, and the zero-emission hydrogen fuel cell electric Mirai (currently available in California), demonstrate the company’s commitment to lowering carbon emissions.
Performance And Efficiency
Driving the Corolla Cross Hybrid is enjoyable. The Corolla Cross Hybrid’s TNGA-C architecture and hybrid powertrain enable it to achieve high-quality performance and efficiency while offering a comfortable ride and exceptional spaciousness. This vehicle is only available in all-wheel drive (AWD).
The new Corolla Cross Hybrid boasts more power and exceptional EPA-estimated fuel-economy ratings thanks to the new Fifth Generation Toyota Hybrid technology and Electronic All-Wheel Drive technology, unique to the Corolla line.
It’s entertaining to drive the Corolla Cross Hybrid, which has 196 horsepower and a 0-60 time of 8 seconds. The EPA estimates its overall mileage per gallon rating for all classes to be an amazing 42. A Lithium-Ion battery, which is smaller and lighter without sacrificing power, is used in the Corolla Cross Hybrid.
The cooling pathways have also been improved to lessen cabin fan noise. Even better, the Fifth-Generation Hybrid System’s battery is housed under the back seats, which increases cargo space and creates a beautiful, low center of gravity.
Grade By Grade
Three different grades—S, SE, and XSE—will be offered for the 2023 Corolla Cross Hybrid. The 17-inch alloy wheels, 8-inch touchscreen, sport-tuned suspension, LED headlights, and smart key access are standard on the S and SE grades.
The SE trim includes roof rails, paddle shifters, privacy glass, and safety features like Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA) and Blind-Spot Monitor (BSM). For the SE and XSE grades of the 2023 Corolla Cross Hybrid, four unique two-tone color combinations will be offered (at an extra cost): Sonic Silver/Black Roof, Barcelona Red/Black Roof, Blue Crush Metallic/Black Roof, and Acidic Blast/Black Roof. Standard Across All Grades: Toyota Audio Multimedia System
The new Toyota Audio Multimedia System, which includes Wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android AutoTM and additional USB-C charge connections to keep all your gadgets charged and ready to go, will come standard on all Corolla Cross grades for 2023.
The Corolla Cross drivers will be prepared thanks to a broad range of enhanced connectivity and comfort features, including Over-the-Air (OTA) update capabilities, thanks to the Toyota Audio Multimedia system, created and engineered by Toyota’s Texas-based Connected Technologies team. Using simple touch and voice commands, users can engage with the system.
Drivers and passengers can access Intelligent Assistant, Cloud Navigation, and Destination Assist with the applicable Connected Service Drive Connect trial or subscription. Simply saying “Hey Toyota” activates the Intelligent Assistant, allowing voice commands to change the cabin’s temperature, identify Points of Interest (POI), search for directions, and more.
The onboard navigation system, called Cloud Navigation, uses the cloud to obtain the most current map, traffic, and route data. Google®’s Points-of-Interest data enables POI search, ensuring users can access the most current search capabilities. Additionally, Destination Assist provides 24/7 live agent support to help find the next destination.
Dual Bluetooth® phone communication is supported by the new Toyota Audio Multimedia system, which also supports wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android AutoTM. The Corolla Cross can become an AT&T Hotspot with additional connectivity thanks to a Wi-Fi Connect subscription that is currently available and provides 4G connectivity for up to five devices.
Wi-Fi Connect enables the new Integrated Streaming feature, giving customers the ability to link their separate Apple Music® and Amazon Music subscriptions to the vehicle for onboard control, enhancing the already robust audio playback capabilities with HD Radio®, USB data, and a 3-month trial subscription to SiriusXM® Platinum Plan.
For TSS 3.0, The Following Functionalities Have Been Improved
- New system sensors have improved the detecting capabilities of the Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian detection. In some situations, it gets increased intersection support and better detection capabilities. In addition to recognizing bicyclists and pedestrians, it also adds the ability to detect motorcycles.
- The expanded lane recognition feature of Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist enables the detection of certain 3D objects, such as guardrails, that may be used to help define the lane.
- Dynamic Radar Cruise Control now has a fourth from the previous three following distance settings. The capacity to recognize many preceding cars, as well as vehicles in neighbouring lanes, is provided by enhanced vehicle detection. This enables the system to modify speed more smoothly and naturally, particularly when the driver changes lanes.
- Lane Tracing Assist’s lane detection has been improved, similar to Lane Departure Alert. Now, this technique aids in increasing the distance between cars being passed in neighboring lanes. It functions by slightly adjusting the steering while keeping the car in its lane to offset the driving path.
- Lane Tracing Assist now features an Emergency Driving Stop System. For example, when a medical emergency arises, it is intended to monitor the driver’s inputs, like steering movement, to see if they are unresponsive or inattentive. If the driver doesn’t take control when prompted, this feature may bring the car to a halt.
- The capabilities of Road Sign Assist’s sign detection have been increased to cover some intersection and warning signs, such as those for pedestrian crossings.
The Blind Spot Monitor (BSM) is intended to help detect and warn you of approaching or being positioned in the adjacent lanes. Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA), which provides both an auditory and visual warning when backing out and assists in detecting vehicles coming from either side, are another standard safety feature in addition to the TSS 3.0 system. Additionally standard is Hill Start Assist Control (HAC).
